Commission & Fee Policy
Effective Date: July 1, 2025
1. Overview
AcademyLite charges commissions and fees to cover platform operation costs, payment processing, and service improvements. These charges apply to freelancers and employers as outlined below. All payments are processed securely through AcademyLite’s centralized PayPal Business account.
2. Freelancer Commissions
Freelancers are charged a 20% commission fee on the total amount earned per completed task (gig) or project (job), regardless of the amount. This fee is deducted automatically by the platform when a task or project is marked complete. Funds remain in the official AcademyLite PayPal Business account until the freelancer manually requests a withdrawal. Withdrawals can only be made once the freelancer’s balance reaches the minimum threshold (currently $100). Earnings are credited in the internal platform currency (credits), where 1 $ = 1 credit.
3. Employer Fees
Employers are charged a 10% processing fee on all tasks or projects. For tasks or projects under $100, a non-refundable $4 small order fee also applies. These fees cover platform usage and payment processing costs. Fees are automatically deducted from the payment at the time of transaction. Employer payments are credited as internal platform credits (Wallet Balance), where 1 $ = 1 credit, and are non-withdrawable except as explicitly allowed under the Refund & Dispute Policy.
4. Fee Deduction and Timing
All applicable commissions and fees are automatically deducted by the platform when a task or project is completed. Fees and commissions are non-refundable once a task or project is marked as complete. Users acknowledge that all amounts displayed with the $ symbol indicate the Platform’s working currency and internal credits, and 1 $ = 1 credit for transaction purposes.
5. Wallet Balance & Payment Handling
Employer payments for tasks or projects are collected by AcademyLite through integrated third-party payment processors such as PayPal. Once the payment is completed:
- Employer Wallet Balance: Funds are credited to the employer’s internal Wallet Balance, representing platform credits. These credits are non-withdrawable and may only be used to pay for tasks, projects, or services on AcademyLite.
- Freelancer Account Balance: Earnings from completed tasks or projects are credited to the freelancer’s Account Balance. Freelancers may request withdrawals once their balance reaches the minimum payout threshold (currently $100), subject to processing rules and fees.
- AcademyLite retains full operational control and legal authority over all funds, including employer wallet credits and freelancer account balances, until they are applied to a task or withdrawn by freelancers.
- Employer wallet credits cannot be refunded, except as explicitly allowed under the Refund & Dispute Policy.
- Employers and freelancers acknowledge that AcademyLite may adjust, hold, or offset balances in compliance with these Terms, applicable fees, or dispute resolutions.
6. Platform Currency and Internal Credits
- All amounts displayed with the $ symbol indicate the Platform’s working currency and are for reference purposes only.
- The internal credit system ensures consistency across all transactions: 1 $ = 1 credit within the Platform.
- Employer wallet credits are non-withdrawable and may only be used to pay for tasks or services.
- Freelancer earnings credited as Account Balance are withdrawable once the minimum threshold is reached.
- Users acknowledge that AcademyLite retains discretion and legal authority over all funds and credits until applied to tasks or withdrawn by freelancers.
7. Changes to Fees
AcademyLite reserves the right to update commission and fee rates at any time. Users will be notified of any changes via email or platform notification.
8. User Responsibility
Users are responsible for understanding the fee structure and ensuring timely payment of all applicable fees. Failure to comply with fees or payment rules may result in account suspension or termination.
